Theodoropolis was an Ancient city and former bishopric, remaining a Latin Catholic titular see, also succeeded by a Greek Catholic titular bishopric under the name Theodorium.

Its presumed location is Badoma, in modern European Turkey.

1. History

Theodoropolis was important enough in the late Roman province of Europa to become a suffragan of its capital Heraclea in Europa,?later Perinthuss Metropolitan Archbishop, yet would fade.

2. Titular successor sees

Latin titular see

The diocese was nominally restored as a Latin titular bishopric of the lowest episcopal rank in 1921, renamed Theodorium in 1925 and back in 1933.

It is vacant for decades, having had a single incumbent:

  • George Calavassy 1933 – 1957.11.07, as Apostolic Exarch of Turkey of Europe of the Greeks covering European Turkey, with see in Istanbul 1920.07.13 – 1932.06.11 and later as first Apostolic Exarch of Greece of the Greeks Greece 1932.06.11 – 1957.11.07

Greek Catholic titular see?

Its unclear if the Greek Catholic see, which also has been named Theodosiopolis first and Theodorium later and still, refers to the same city.

However its only recorded incumbent so far is the same George Calavassy see above, 1920.07.13 – 1933
